Albany, Georgia

Waking up in this setting every morning is breathtaking. We’ve become very familiar with the numerous pecan trees in the front yard and across the street (allergies included). The magnolias have just started blooming…the mosquitos haven’t gotten bad yet, so when I’m not painting, cooking, or doing other necessary life things, I like to sit and be outside as much as I can. All of this space forces you to take a deep breath…I’m more of a hold your breath type of girl…

St. Simons Island

First thing in the a.m., the lifeguard stands were such a sculptural contrast against an empty beach.

Radium Springs

‘One of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia’

Radium Springs once functioned as a country club, the only one in Albany. Established in 1925, there was a casino, dining area and a bar. And the springs were open to the public to swim. Radium Springs suffered from the floods of ‘94 and ‘98 which led to the deterioration of this beautiful gem. I remember coming when I was very little after church for lunch. They had the most decadent ice cream bar.

Catherine Jones lived in Birmingham, AL for seven years before moving back to her hometown, Albany, Georgia in late 2018. She lives in Albany with her husband and daughter, and over the last year, she's been reacquainting herself with "home"--painting and exploring other creative endeavors as they come.
